SDG 9 - INDUSTRY, INNOVATION, AND INFRASTRUCTURE
UNP isn’t just talking about innovation and infrastructure – they’re building it from the ground up. This University is on a mission to turn SDG 9 into reality, and they’re doing it with style.
Picture this: a campus buzzing with energy-efficient buildings, and water-saving tech. It’s not just about looking good; UNP is walking the walk when it comes to sustainable infrastructure.
But the real magic happens in the Innovation Hub. This isn’t your average study space – it’s a launchpad for the next big ideas. Students are cooking up start-ups, and small businesses that could change the game for local industries. And they’re not doing it alone – UNP’s got their back with mentorship, and resources.
The University’s research game is strong too. Faculty, and students are tackling the big issues – we’re talking sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy. They’re not just writing papers; they’re solving real-world problems.
And UNP doesn’t stop at the campus gates. Their community extension programs are out there in the trenches, upgrading infrastructure in underserved areas. They’re not just building roads and bridges; they’re building stronger communities.
From green buildings to groundbreaking research, from student start-ups to community projects, UNP is driving innovation, and sustainable development in the Northern Philippines. They’re not just preparing students for the future; they’re shaping that future, one innovative idea at a time.

UNP's Architectural Touch Adds Splendor to Christ the King Feast
Magsingal, Ilocos Sur – The historic St. William the Hermit Parish, a National Cultural Heritage site declared by the National Museum in 2001, recently served as the archdiocesan host for the 2023 Christ the King Celebration. This momentous event was marked by the unveiling of a specially designed altar stage, a project meticulously planned by the College of Architecture under their Preservation of Cultural Heritage Program.
The College of Architecture, led by Dean Fatima Nicetas R. Alonzo, along with Extension Coordinator Maila Ragasa, Assistant Dean Monserrat Pescador, and Faculty Coordinator Ludivina Lozano, embarked on this extension project in 2021. The project included producing conceptual designs for a permanent stage for the 2023 celebration, a new façade for the Parish Convent and offices, and a comprehensive Site Development Plan for the Church complex. These designs were carefully developed to blend with the existing architectural character of the Church, ensuring a seamless integration with its historical and cultural significance.
