Description: The Department of Languages and Humanities (DLH) and the University Extension Office led a recycling training and waste management seminar. The program aimed to equip participants, including residents of a local barangay, with knowledge on proper solid waste management. By promoting recycling and proper disposal, this initiative helps prevent waste from polluting water sources, thereby improving water quality and protecting vital ecosystems.
Description: The College of Engineering Alumni Association elected new officers. Alumni associations often engage in initiatives that leverage their professional expertise, including promoting sustainable resource management and efficient use of materials. This engagement helps to leverage the expertise of alumni to support the college's goals of responsible production and resource efficiency.
Description: The College of Teacher Education launched an environmental protection program that included a coastal clean-up activity. This initiative directly improves water quality by removing pollutants from the coastline. The program promotes responsible waste management and integrated water resource management among students and the local community, contributing to waste reduction and ecosystem protection.
Description: The College of Health Sciences conducted an extension activity to assist a local community in developing a marketable "pokpoklo" (a type of edible seaweed) ice cream. The project focused on improving product labeling and packaging. By helping the community create a sustainable product from a natural resource, the university promotes responsible management of local resources and efficient food production.
Description: The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management organized a workshop on making traditional delicacies like puto and bibingka. This initiative revives cultural traditions while providing participants with practical food production skills. It promotes local food security and offers an opportunity for a new source of income, thereby contributing to sustainable cultural heritage and local economic growth.
Description: The university secured the 325th spot globally in the 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Ranking, which evaluates universities on their environmental performance, including in the area of procurement. This recognition highlights UNP's commitment to sustainable practices and its alignment with global sustainability goals.
Description: The College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) united its programs for initiatives that focus on business, financial, and environmental sustainability. This integrated approach to education and community engagement helps ensure that students and the public have the knowledge and awareness for sustainable development.
