BTLEd, BTVTEd, MATLE programs hold skills training

In alignment with SDG 2, which aims to achieve food security and promote sustainable agriculture, the College of Teacher Education’s BTLEd, BTVTEd, and MATLE programs recently held a community-centered skills development training in Candon City. Collaborating with local government units and the Gawad Kalinga Foundation, the training emphasized meal and nutrition planning, equipping participants with essential skills in snack production, including buchi and churros making. Led by industry experts, the program taught participants how to create nutritious recipes, uphold food safety standards, and apply quality control measures. By fostering knowledge in sustainable food production and healthy meal preparation, this initiative empowers participants to enhance their food security while supporting their community’s nutritional needs and economic resilience.

On December 18, 2023, the Agrimensores Club of the University of Northern Philippines hosted a Christmas outreach program, “Gift Giving: Share the Love,” in San Julian, Bantay, aimed at spreading holiday joy while tackling poverty and hunger, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 1: No Poverty and SDG 2: Zero Hunger. Attended by club officers and members, the event was based on the principle that “giving is better than receiving” and focused on providing essential items, including food and gifts, to families in need. The outreach was made possible through the financial contributions of BSGE students, ensuring that families facing economic challenges received much-needed support during the holiday season. The heartfelt smiles and gratitude from the recipients highlighted the positive impact of community collaboration in addressing both hunger and poverty, demonstrating how collective efforts can foster lasting change and improve the well-being of vulnerable communities.
